Elevator Pitch Essentials: Preparing Your 5-Minute Research Spiel

Tue Aug 28, 2012 2:00PM - 3:15PM • Room 202 DeBartolo Hall

This is the first part of a two-part workshop designed to help graduate students prepare and deliver their 5-minute research spiel.

Part One: Preparing Your 5-Minute Research Spiel, Room 202 DeBartolo Hall
An elevator pitch is a concise, well-prepared description about your research. Learn how to create it, rehearse it, and tailor it for a specific audience in a way that excites others. Leaders from the Graduate School and Writing Center will teach you the skills that you will need to craft your elevator pitch.

Part Two: November 5th, 4:30-6:30pm, Location TBA
Participants will take the research spiel they developed on their own or in the last workshop and be given time to practice sharing their research with other students, faculty, and other administrators from a wide range of disciplines during a cocktail party the Graduate School hosts in support of this event. Business casual attire requested for the cocktail party.
