Elevator Pitch Essentials I: Preparing the 5-minute Research Spiel (Graduate Workshop)

Wed Feb 8, 2012 5:00PM - 6:15PM • 120 DeBartolo Hall

This is the first part of a two-part workshop designed to help graduate students prepare and deliver their 5-minute research spiel.

Part One: February 8th, 5:00-6:15pm, Room 120 DeBartolo Hall

An elevator pitch is a concise, well-prepared description about your research. Learn how to create it, rehearse it, and tailor it for a specific audience in a way that excites others. Leaders from the Graduate School and Writing Center will teach you the skills that you will need to craft your elevator pitch.

Part Two: February 15th, 5:00-6:30pm, Room 331 Coleman-Morse Center

Students will take the research spiel they developed on their own or in the last workshop and be given time to practice sharing their research with other students, faculty, and other administrators from a wide range of disciplines during a cocktail party the Graduate School hosts in support of this event. Business casual attire requested for the cocktail party.
